Are vocal fry, uptalk, and selectively whiny voices misophonia triggers for anyone else
Post Body

I’ve noticed more people are adopting vocal fry, and it absolutely drives me insane. Many of them also do the uptalk thing where everything they say sounds like they’re asking a question, and I’ve noticed a lot of younger women adopt an extra whiny voice but only when talking to someone in a role of power, like a manager or instructor.

Being in college means being surrounded by younger people who do this. Most of them are women, but I’m noticing a lot of men are starting to do it too, so maybe it’s just a generational thing. On top of being a misophonia trigger, I also think doing these things makes a person sound really immature and dumb. For example, if I was hiring people for a job, these things would make me think twice about a candidate even if I didn’t have misophonia.
