Has anybody gone to an audiologist and had custom ear plugs made?

Post Body

I’m desperate for ear plugs that actually block everything but don’t hurt. I can’t fall asleep without them, even with white noise, but most ear plugs leave me in pain because of tiny ear canals. There is no infection, but the friction pain is so bad that I occasionally have to put lidocaine drops in my ears to stand the ear plugs long enough to fall asleep.

Using headphones or earbuds isn’t an option because I sleep on my side, and silicon ear plugs aren’t good enough to fully block the specific trigger noises. I’m at the point of paying a doctor $200 for custom ones, but want to know that I’m not wasting the money. If anybody else did this, was it worth it?
