As someone with a serious mental illness, I need to address this.

EDIT: Putting this up here because I’m done wasting my time defending something obvious. Some people are so negative and exhausting and you remind of why I’m here. This was in one of the arguer’s profile’s posts. As they say, from the horse’s mouth.

Original:

I am noticing a very disturbing but telling trend in the way that people speak on this sub.

I am sensing that a lot of the individuals here might be suffering from mental illness and are either non-compliant with treatment or just have not received the proper treatment for their specific condition. It's evident in the things we say.

You can tell that someone has cognitive distortions when they say things along the lines of: "Well I brought this point up to a group and now they all HATE ME." -Hyperbole. Or "Life is suffering and everything is shit, and if you disagree, leave!" -Displacement. or "If I have nothing left to lose, I'm going to take people out with me." -Vague mass shooting threats.

YEAH, mods. That last one is on your subreddit. Figger it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfU8CZVNb6o

Everyone needs to get their shit sorted first. Especially you, potential mass shooter guy... Only then we can sit down and say "Man, some of these issues are incredibly fucked up, huh? We all acknowledge that they are horrid. Now, what can 80,500 of us do to change what little we have control over?"

Or are we just team giving up? I'm going skins in that game.

edit: It really is interesting to see the responses to this. Half of the posts are upset that someone is suggesting they see clear indicators of mental illnesses/disturbances (mental illnesses can be short term too) in people on this sub. Why would that be a problem to people? Well, part of it is a subconscious bias built in them by man's sick society. They view mental illness as if it is an insult. Think about that.

Also, someone said "leave the diagnosing to the professionals". Some of them revealed diagnoses themselves... Part of the reason I even wrote this post was that I looked through some particularly dark people's post histories, and there were posts in r/depression, r/nihilism, r/anxiety, literally talking about how they were in and out of therapy for a while, but couldn't deal with the side effects of the meds, so they stopped going, etc. and so forth. Also, blatantly obvious indicators of social anxiety, and why the fuck wouldn't there be? Because the toxic sludge that a portion of this community wallows in says that there is no such thing as a good human, and no one can ever be trusted.

By the way, you can hate the evils of humanity and still love your fellow man. I am hoping that anyone struggling seeks the help they need. It is not a bad thing to have a chronic mental illness, and we need to stop demonizing it, including demonizing people who assert that someone could have one. Once again, some people here are sick and just need help. For me, it took someone to point out that my hatred of particular people was unusually intense. Sure enough, that hatred was spawned from a bubbling cauldron of depression. Just like it is for many people here.
