There are few things that I need someone else for. One of those things is getting my hair cut. I have a love/hate relationship with getting my hair cut. I love the tactile sensation of it. The buzz of the clippers, the guard and fingers against my scalp, the snip of the scissors, and the feel of the comb, all handled by a professional. I hate being cornered and interrogated by someone without anything of substance to say.
I have a guy now who knows how I like it cut and the relative silence that I enjoy while he does his job. I thank him sincerely for the good job and I tip extremely well for the comfortable silence in which he does his job. I often stress about getting someone new when he isn't there.
I wish I knew a good way to avoid the obligatory interrogation about myself, my work, my plans, and my family with each new hair stylist or barber. Do any of you have tips on getting courteous, professional service without all the chit-chat?
