Note, my use case is investing/cashflow focused. I need to track equity and spending so that I can ensure my income generating investments are staying positive (especially my real estate checking account).
I went through the process of setting up full view last night. The set up was rather painless and the Fidelity UI makes it relatively easy to go in and make minor changes to things that were impossible with Mint. For example, it's pretty easy to change account names so that they are useful in the UI. I had one bank account that was showing up as ***************************891-whatever and all I needed to do was just click on it and change the title. Also, the way Fidelity handles real estate is pretty nice. It makes it easy to have multiple mortgages on a single property so that you can easily track things even as the servicer changes. I invest in real estate, so this was good to see.
So, all in all, a good product, but unfortunately, I cannot use it. Here's why. I was surprised to find that for an investment focused platform, Fidelity's analytical tools are fairly terrible. There is next to no trend support like there is in mint. If I want to see net/gross for an account, all I can get is a pie chart showing spending over a particular duration (e.g. 7d, 30d, ytd). There is no way to show this over time as a bar graph. This is a critical feature for anyone who has a business account and needs to review historical cashflows. Net worth is even worse, you get a really nice summary page presented as a table that nicely shows liabilities, investments etc. I actually really like it. It's so well done, that I imagine some people could simply use this as a document to present when doing loan apps. However, there are ZERO trend/analytical tools for tracking net worth over time.
In the end, full view feels like it's trying to do the right things for a more investment focused product, but the lack of analytical tools is a bit astonishing. I was left feeling that the product is a bit half baked at this point. Basic functionality is there, but as I try to actually use it, I don't see this being a solution I can go with given my needs.
