Reason for minoxidil: in 2020 I (F28) was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I began an aggressive caloric deficit that resulted in stalled weight loss, massive hair loss to my already thin hair, and brittle nails. Started upping my calories and using minoxidil on my scalp.

Lost 130lbs and my hair looked somewhat normal. Went through some surgeries, an ectopic pregnancy, and lots of mental health lows. I gained back 120lbs and stopped using minoxidil. Obviously lost my gains.

I got into a car accident in October. Still have some nerve pain so I’m having a discectomy on 5/28 that will require general anesthesia. Today I found out I can’t take fish oil or my multivitamin. I don’t remember why for the multi, but the fish oil can apparently cause blood thinning so it must be stopped 14 days prior. I forgot to ask about my rogaine (I use whatever’s cheaper at the time of purchase — cvs, rogaine if there are better coupons).

When I googled it I only found results saying to stop using it before a hair transplant. What about a back surgery? I’m nervous about stopping again. I’ve been pretty good about using it (forgetting MAYBE once a week, if that) and I’m losing weight again although I can’t workout like I used to, but I’m down 31lbs total again — 22lbs since January. I just feel like I’m getting back on the right path and losing any more hair will honestly crush me, I hate seeing the loss whenever I shower to begin with.

Thanks in advance for the help
