What happens if I use minoxidil on an already decently dense beard?

And if I use it on my hair will it help it grow back? I’m wondering since I had already accepted my fate and started shaving my head, felt pretty comfortable with it tbh, but found out about minoxidil recently and I’m just wondering if it’ll help me have my hair back or maybe not worth it at all? My beard is already decent but I wish it was even more prominent
