Hello friends! Happy to see a community of Minolta fans!!
I have shot on an X-700 for over a decade. I love these cameras. I upgraded my body about 3 years ago. This was an “excellent” grade body from KEH in Atlanta.
A few days ago I seemingly lost all power. Sure, dead battery no problem! New batteries brought it back for exactly one shot before complete lights out again, locked advance.
I went to the shop in my city where a friend there, who also shoots Minolta, suggested perhaps the capacitor had gone, as I’m sure we are all thinking right now. We tried batteries that came out of another working 700 that was in the shop and still nothing, zero power.
So I suppose my question would be do you all think it is definitely the capacitor failed? Or is it perhaps a different issue?
I only ask because the repair is pretty steep. I ultimately won’t be totally against paying it… but if it is indeed the capacitor, and not some other issue, I may attempt to fix it myself.
Thanks so much y’all for any sort of insight!
