I think we can all agree that dating kind of sucks and can often be pretty defeating. Going on dates just to realize you're not compatible or into the same things. It can be even more frustrating when we don't all lead incredibly social lives. Because of this, I thought I'd give posting here a chance. Well the username isn't that far off! I'll start with a physical description since it's silly to pretend physical attraction isn't important in a relationship. I'm -

As for hobbies and life, I'm a graduate student who just very recently got into my new field. I'll be getting a place of my own soon and hopefully a pet to go along with it (dog or cat?!?!?!!?). So, I'm definitely on the busier side of things but when it comes to my friends and people I care about I definitely make them a priority in my life. Friends and loved ones are more important to me than money or things could ever be.

I enjoy staying active (which is good because I'm currently trying my best to curtail my garbage diet) through the gym, hockey, and just nice sunny walks (also winter walks which are severely underrated). I play video games with my friends so I'd say that's a major hobby. I enjoy going to cafes and reading (mostly history or liminal/psychological horror). I don't watch as many things as I used to but I've always been a sucker for Wes Anderson movies, some A24 stuff, and the classic really good HBO shows.

Personally I'd say my personality it usually very humor driven. I'm at my happiest when I'm making people laugh. I enjoy genuine connection, empathy, and compassion with others. When it comes to being a partner I feel my best when I know I'm supporting their goals and ambitions to the best of my ability. A best friend and partner is definitely the goal. My humor can be on the darker/meme-y side of things, maybe sometimes a little immature, and sometimes edgier but generally I think I ride the line pretty well.

Who Are You?

There was definitely a time in my life where I had little to no idea of what I wanted in a partner but after the relationships of my 20's, I think I have a pretty good idea. I'll start by saying all of these are negotiable and just guidelines, no one is perfect, and I definitely believe in order to find the right person we all have to make compriomises (lord knows I'm not perfect and come with my own baggage). Having said that I think it's important that we share some sort of similar hobby or at least respect the others, we both have similar physical health goals (super difficult to get into shape when your partner isn't on the same grocery list as you), and we both respect each other in the relationship. I've seen so many couples devolve into that odd sort of disrespect for each other and I'm definitely not sticking around for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm sticking around through troubled times with you, but long-term relational damage is not one of those things.

Ideally there's some geographical luck here. I've put MN and midwest because I think those are the boundaries. It's difficult for me to picture really truly forming a relationship with someone that is across the world or that I have to fly to once a month (nothing is ever completely out of the question for that but I think, from my thinking, that would have to be one perfect match).

Other than the above, humor and confidence are great (I don't think it's just women who enjoy those things in a partner). But ultimately just being yourself goes a long way. I've tried my best to put a lot of myself out there in this post and I'll never be ashamed of who I am. I'd like for you to not be either.
