Just starting planning for a trip around the state in August with a few friends. We did a circle tour of Colorado last year and were fortunate enough to find a bunch of interesting people, places and things. It was one unexpected adventure and pleasant surprise after another. And we're like, why don't we try this in our own state?!
We all grew up here, and between us, we think we've seen it all and done it all...or at least are aware of it all. But the upper midwest frequently surprises us with the things we happen upon from time to time. I'm writing to ask what everyone else here knows.
What are things you've seen and places you've been that are lesser known or essentially unknown? Out of the way and off the beaten path? Hidden gems, seedy dives, cultural and historical treasures, scenic vistas, redneck roadhouses, greasy spoons, places where a guy could get in trouble? The underbelly of Minnesota, seedy and otherwise? Have you ever discovered something and couldn't believe your find? Tell me about it.
If it helps, our group is pretty universal with our interests, especially outdoors/hiking, history, live music, food both fine and divey.
Thanks in advance for anything y'all got!
