I'm relatively new to painting miniatures having only really dabbled here and there in years past, and yesterday I was working on some bases. Having applied a wash to bring out the details of the textures, and drybrushed to pick out some highlights, I noticed a fairly glossy look to the base because of the wash (as far as I can tell). I figured this was a good chance to use a bottle of brush-on matt varnish I have to make sure that dry desert wasteland base I had worked on didn't seem so shiny, but having applied it yesterday it seems like there's no a layer of gloss to it, though less so, having applied the matt varnish.
The bottle in question was a small bottle of army painter brush on matt varnish.
Has anyone else had this issue, and/or does anyone have any advice on avoiding this issue or correcting it?
