Drillers Offsider UG - sticking it out.

Hey guys, are there any ex underground driller offsiders that have made it through to becoming a driller and can offer some tips to new starters? All I hear is negative feedback about the role and people quitting etc.
I know it is very hard work but obviously guys stick it out and become drillers - just want to hear from the guys that made it and their tips for making the job work for greenies.
