I remember saying that to someone about 10 years ago when we started seeing autonomous trucks at a couple of local mines. Here we are with the majority of operations still pushing beaten up trucks around the circuits.
I'd suggest unless it's a new operation or company with a lot of capital, they'll keep the truck drivers and older trucks until closure, especially around our area where there's only 5 - 10 years left in a lot of mines.

The system is only as good as the array of sensors and its implementation which is designed, assembled and programmed by humans - in most cases with limited exposure to the environment. I remember an issue with the first iterations of autonomous trucks that would cut channels in the haul roads because they followed the exact same path each time which resulted in having to add a human behaviour of driving different offsets to the designated path.
While I agree it removes human conditions such as fatigue, speeding, attention, etc I'm sure all the bugs aren't fully ironed out yet.
