Hi all, I'm trying to work out the life of the Saraji coal mine in Qld. From my research the mine has 502Mt of recoverable reserves and they're currently mining 10Mt a year.
But I can't find how much of that total has already been mined and how much is left. If anyone has any details regarding this it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I think that it would be something either published to shareholders or kept internally. LOM would vary based on a lot of factors including strip ratio, product yields and coal price. Mines may look to buy or sell leases depending on market demand and risk. Depletion of the resource will depend on how actively they persue it as well, the mine may reduce operating equipment in later years or at times when it's not economically viable to flood the market with product.
I know one mine I worked at over the COVID lockdown had the LOM decrease from 2032 to 2026, then back up to 2037 when the market kicked up again, so potentially a fairly flexible timeline.
