Pilotwings - the helicopter missions

Post Body

Man what a fun, charming game. It felt so different from all the other games at the time and it still holds up. There was something that felt extra quirky however. Anyone else feel the helicopter missions, while fun, feel so random, out of place, and tacked on? The game seemingly has no real plot or narrative. Your in this flight school, progressing through your lessons when all of a sudden the instructors are kidnapped by an evil syndicate and you have to rescue them singlehandedly as Big Al, a flight expert and instructor isn't licensed to fly a helicopter. Huh? Where the fuck did this come from?!? The missions are fun little change of pace but it feels like a different game altogether. Felt a little out of place as a kid but as an adult it really stands out.
