With the recent events of Wade leaving SD and SD reducing its size to 3, its time to throw in my opinions about everything.

First of all, I have been an active member for a very long time. 3 years. I love the game. The people. The idea. However, a lot has changed since I first started playing. The average player count is now between 20 and 30 on its good times. The addition of all these plugins (some good, some bad). A huge change in the player base (shifts towards more pvp).

I think you get my drift. For all the veterans like me, you remember having many different large factions that built amazing cities, fought crazy battles, and knew had to have a good time. You remember walking around for 5 mins and stumbling across a town inhabited by a handful of friends. You remember that feeling you got when you were away from MinerAp. That sinking feeling that your build, or base, or town, or city wouldn't be there when you logged back in. It was most definitely the feeling that brought you back every 10 mins. You probably also remember the server hitting its max amount of players, and how we had to increase the cap to allow more people in. Now I'm not saying its any ones fault that we only get a portion of what we used to get (there is blame on all the updates the game goes through, and players real life stuff). But there are people here that have the power to bring the server back to what it was. And that is SD.

Lets start with what SD is responsible for, in case there is any one not familiar with what SD does:

In charge of coming up with new ideas, events, and rules for the server. Any and all server or plugin related ideas and suggestions should be directed here.

Great! So these guys are responsible for direction of the server. And they take in feedback from the players, and try to make improvements to the server. Awesome!
But, there are only three of them. I don't know about you, but I'd really like to see the server go back to its original days of fullness. I don't think 3 people can represent the wishes of an entire server. Yes they take feedback from the players, but there is no doubt some of their own bias thrown in. They are, after all, players just like us. So how do we fix it?

Suggestion #1: Increase the size of SD to something larger. If your worried about deadlock, then have 5 or 7 people. Suggestion #2: Rotate SD out. New blood is a good thing.
Suggestion #3: Restructure.
Remember that thing called a Community Representative? The community would hold elections to elect these people? Well if SD does not want to rotate, then a new body of community representatives should be created. This body is purely run by the community. The community is responsible for nominating players, and electing them into the body. SD would organize and moderate these elections. The elected representatives then have voting power towards the issues. Doing this will not only introduce new blood to help the direction of the server, but it will engage the entire server in some of these issues.

Hopefully this post sparks some good discussion about SD, where this server is going, where this server should be, etc. Remember that all of my suggestions are suggestions. There are most certainly some flaws in my suggestions which need to be worked out. That's what discussion is for.

And while all these things are good things (SD, new plugins), we need to remember the grounds on which this server was built on.
An Apocalyptic VANILLA Minecraft server. While there were some balance issues in the past, it was without a doubt, a really fun experience.
