Made with an armor stand and a target block, a Training Dummy can be placed down and used to practice combat. Melee weapons used against it will not lose durability, making it a good way of testing your strength, and they can be destroyed by simply destroying the block beneath them.
However, what’s even more interesting is that these dummies can also produce a Redstone signal when hit, with the signal strength being based on the damage the dummy takes. This allows for some cool weapon-based contraptions, and potentially even a way of gating progress in an adventure map via weapon progression.
