As the Beacon is an end-game item (if you pardon the pun) it is a fairly powerful object to own, after a fair cost of building it, and then having the resources for a mineral pyramid make it worthy of being a little more powerful in my opinion.
My current problems with the beacons, are that the beacon is a great concept, and works great in single player to provide a safe zone where youâre bugged against mobs, but PVP, both players get the effects so it nullifies the buff.
The current range is quite tight, I donât think this should be vastly increased, but under a certain condition can be extended by a few blocks.
Range should keep itâs current size, but only if the mineral pyramid is impure, if the pyramid is pure iron/gold/diamond etc itâs range would increase by 20%
Ownership
The beacon should by default, acts as it does now, but in the GUI thereâs now a button to switch between All Players, Owner, Team, Custom. Switching between costs a signal mineral as it currently does to change potion effect.
All Players speaks for itself, it works how it does currently. If tagged with a name tag with a player name, it blacklists them from the effects
Owner, again, does what it says in the tin, and only affects the beaconâs owner.
When set to Team, the beacon needs to by âdyedâ with the appropriate team colour, at which point the glass texture adopts a slight tint to the team colour.
When set to custom, right clicking the beacon with a name tag of a playerâs name allows them to possess the beaconâs effects. Anyone can âtagâ the beacon, so in PVP it incentivises the beacons to be protected.
Tagging the beacon in any state with the name of a mob, will extend the beaconâs powers to the mob too, allowing for pets and golems to be buffed too.
Power
Increase the beaconâs powers be allowing Slow falling, levitation (could make for some groovy elevators, or defences), Fire Resistance, Night Vision
This would give late game players more reason to collect more beacons, and combined with the ownership feature, allow for a player or faction to create a safe haven for their allies, but have an advantage against invading players.
Effect Duration
Change effect duration so rather than 2 second intervals between layers, the item fed into the beacon governs the time. Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, Netherite. Iron provides the base 11 seconds, and each succeeding item provides more. Currently it doesnât matter so why wouldnât you go for the cheapest/whatever is on hand? This change adds a cost/reward factor.
