I've been slowly rebuilding my collection that I sold off (for peanuts) years ago. Having a German wartime K98 is pretty high on the list, but there is a certain aesthetic that I lean to. I like the look of the full handguard that meets the receiver, though more commonly I see the short ones on WW2 K98's. Was this only used by other countries (like the Yugo 48's)? I'm also keen on the thick buttplates, but again I'm not sure they're kosher (maybe bad word choice) for a WW2 specimen as I more commonly see the thin ones. Does the K98 I want exist? Or have I assembled it in my head from different rifles I've seen?
