Recently posted about this Mauser I got in 7x57mm. Upon further inspection the top handguard had a crack I didnāt see in my initial look at the rifle. Iāve since ordered two spares from Numrich but in the meantime I modified it to look more like the G98/K98 hand guard. I like the way it looks and will keep the others on hand if I ever want to put it back in original configuration.
Anywho, I loaded up some ammo for it. 34 grains of H4895 with a 150 grain soft point bullet with some Prvi brass I got. Also loaded some reduced loads with 21.6 grains of H4895. Its been years since I shot one of these old rifles and it brought back so many good memories. Recoil was really mild and almost enjoyable, and the reduced loads felt nearly like shooting an AR15.
Managed to get a 5ā five shot group at 100 yards, which Iām fairly pleased with. Shoots a few inches high and to the left but nothing that drifting the front couldnāt fix.
Couldnāt be happier.
