I just baught a Swiss Vetterli Mod 1870 Carbine at a surp store for $500 and I had a few questions.

Im new to vintage gun collection and 1 saw this going for 500 and decided to pick it up. The guy told me is was quite a rare rifle and you don't seem them often. I'd like to know some more info on this specific model if anyone has more info that would be great because I can't find anything on it. ld also like to know how rare it actually is or if its common and got ripped off... any answers I can provide more pics in dms if needed.
