Which of these two jobs is a better pathway to a millwright apprentice?
Post Body

Hi, hope this post is okay, I'm hoping to get some advice. If it matters this is in the greater Toronto area and the only relevant experience I have is an 8 month millwright techniques program at college.

The first is a manufacturing technician job at Massiv Die-Form a subsidiary of Magna. The second is Fabricator & Slitter for Conveyor Systems for Canadian bearings. Here is a second link here if that one doesnt work.

Which of these would be better for the long term goal of becoming a millwright? I have interviews scheduled with both of them, so when I get the chance I'll ask if a future apprenticeship is possible with either of them, but more generally, which is of these jobs would be better for eventually getting an apprenticeship (with other firms if not these ones)?

My first impression is that perhaps the man tech position would be better for a tool and die or machinist trade and the conveyor systems better for the millwright, but I'm not too knowledgable.

In addition, I assume someone here working for canadian bearings is unlikely, but does anyone know what the opportunity for advancement in either of these firms is?

Also, does anyone know what the market wage for either of these sorts of positions would be? In case I get to the point of negotiating wages with either of them.

Thanks in advance for any help.
