Car dealer putting apple airtag in loaner

While my car is getting work done the dealership gave me a loaner. My iPhone popped up with info of an airtag. Sure enough dealership confirmed they put it in there. Odd thing is they can already locate the car with the built in gps. Why do they need to see my every move? And not notify me they did it.
