I’ve been suffering with migraines for roughly 14 years now. I do have congenital hydrocephalus which I get an annual scan and check up for. Luckily, my hydrocephalus seems to have no negative effects on me and has never (to me and my doctor’s knowledge) caused any issues. This makes the odd nature of my migraines all the more puzzling to me.
I seem to get them on a schedule, once every 12-15 days. When they occur my usual symptoms are:
- Neck stiffness
- Eye swelling and pain
- Throbbing headache
- Extreme nausea
- Vertigo
- Light noise sensitivity
- Extreme sweating
- Rough heartbeat
On rare occasions these symptoms come along with:
- Stroke like symptoms but not actually a stroke (hemiplegic migraines)
- Grand Mal seizures
I’ve had ekgs and eegs, tried every migraine specific medication and preventative under the sun, and have mapped my routines meticulously. There seems to be no trigger for these migraines. The best treatment is often Morphine and a good nights sleep.
My question is, does anyone else here experience migraines that seem to come on a schedule? Or, do you suffer from migraines with a similar side effect profile? If so, do they have a name? What are they called?
Any information or words of anecdotal experience would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
