I’ve had migraines for about 2 years off and on, and more recently, I’ve been recommended Calm, a magnesium powder supplement you mix into your drink. Allegedly, it’s supposed to help with your migraines.
I went to work one day with a migraine and mixed in a baby scoop of the Calm powder with my Gatorade. Sipped it throughout my shift.
On the drive home…I paid the price. My bowels were contracting, causing a vasovagal reaction just as I parked. I got heart racing, lightheaded, and sent into a massive panic attack. Convinced I was dying. Nope, just had to shit my pants.
The next 2-3 hours were spent in and out of the restroom. And ever since, any attempt to take magnesium powder had yielded similar results. Turns out, it’s magnesium citrate — pretty well known for causing diarrhea. Needless to say, I was NOT calm and my migraine was no better off.
