Hi guys. I don't post around here often but I've been in the 'weed scene' for many years, on the growing end of things (though I smoke, of course). Foxfarm is considered the "weed grower's" nutrient, for good reason: it's quality stuff. A bit on the expensive side, but if you're not familiar with making your own soils and nutrients, Foxfarm makes it pretty easy.
Through that time I have heard the same myth repeated over and over from countless people in all sorts of places regarding the Foxfarm schedule: everyone says it's too strong, cut the measurements in half or you'll burn your plants. And everyone believes this because they see it happen: they 'follow the schedule' and then they burn the hell out of their plants.
It's because they're not following the schedule. The Foxfarm schedule (pdf here) has the three core nutrients (Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom), then the "extras" in the micronutrient category. Those aren't as necessary, but Cha-Ching and Open Sesame are actually quite effective. But I digress:
There are not three core products in the Foxfarm schedule, there are four and everyone ignores the fourth. Everyone I've ever heard spread this myth, without fail, does not use Sledgehammer to flush.
You need to use Sledgehammer as prescribed. It makes a world of difference, and allows you to use the full schedule without burn, and your plants will thank you.
I do not currently nor ever have I worked for Foxfarm, this isn't an ad for Foxfarm, I promise. But if you're already forking over the money for Foxfarm, you might as well not be wasting it.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
