Keeping humidity UP…

Post Body

I’m a super-hot pepper grower in Texas, who’s new to indoor growing, DWC hydroponics and tents… all of which are in the garage.

I’m in TX and the air stays dryer than Mother Theresa’s nether regions.

I’m trying to get my humidity UP, and my VPD DOWN for Capsicum Chinense peppers (75-90% RH with a VPD at .5 - 1.0).

Being brand new to tents, and playing around with my exhaust fan to get all of my environmental stuff optimum AND stable, I’m exchanging air at a very slow but constant rate…. It’s making my efforts to keep my RH up and VPD down a struggle.

In my experiment tent, I’m running a 4x 5 gallon DWC which is helping, and also have a cool mist humidifier going 24/7.

My humidity is still staying at about 55-60% and I’m at the lower end of temps (70-75°) pretty’s consistently until probably mid spring-time.

If I ultimately need to continue to exchange air while also keeping my humidity as high as possible, what’s the best method for me?

A monster humidifier the lowest side of optimal temps?

Is there a practical and affordable way to move air though the tent while keeping the humidity in?

All my tents draw air from my HVAC system, which in the house, I’m also at a super low RH of about 35%.

I should add I have the whole VivoSun set-up with a 9” circulation fan and the exhaust fan both on their GrowHub.

The lights are on an 18/6 cycle, running during the afternoon through morning and off during mid-day.

Since setting it up, the circulation fan has been set to “natural wind”.

I’ve been playing with the exhaust fan parameters to try getting a more stable environment that’s not jumping up and down drastically every hour. It’s set to come on full blast at 85° or higher, which doesn’t happen ever, and stand-by speed of 1.

It pulls air from a 4” vent that draws from the house (stays at 73° & 35% RH 24/7).
