Re-amended soil smells god awful, soil chefs advice is needed!

Was wondering if this is normal for freshly amended “cooking” soil. First time organic grower here switching from salt ferts and still struggling with a learning curve. Had a successful first run in BAS 3.0 mixed with their oly mtn fish compost soil. Want to reuse the soil so I re-amended it with the BAS neem/Karanja cake mix, their 3.0 building kit, and some kelp meal (which I later found out works better in a tea then amended in 😒). Mixed it all in a tote and have the lid shut on it keeping it moist but not soaked. Everytime I crack the lid it has a god awful smell and very little fungi web activity on the top, it’s also not getting very warm at all either which is what I thought it’s supposed to do when it’s cooking. Does anyone have any pointers? Has my soil gone bad with anaerobic bacteria because the lid on the tote? Will the smell work it’s self back down to that earthy good dirt smell after it cooks a while longer? Remember, I’m new to organics so if I fudged up somewhere please don’t ridicule me just let me know what I did wrong and how to fix it :) thanks
