Easiest soil for a newbie

So my wife has decided she wants to try her hand at growing, and she wants to do soil because "everything else seems too hard". I have a handful of successful grows under my belt but they have all been DWC so I have no experience with soil. I am trying to figure out the simplest way for her to do this. I was looking at Purple Cow Indicanja as it says you just have to water it, no amendments necessary. It's interesting but kinda pricy. I have a fast auto for her to try which should only take 8-9 weeks from seed so it doesn't have to last so long and I was thinking a 7 or 10 gallon grow bag to make the nutrients last longer. I also looked at FFOF which I can pick up locally for $20 for the 1.5cuft bag.

Basically I am looking for a cheap way to let her grow something without too much learning curve. Quality of product isn't the biggest factor here. I know having her learn and mix her own would be best, but she won't do it, I know all the reasons this is the wrong way for her to do it this way. Reality is she probably will only do this once, and if she does want to try again she can, and she will likely be more engaged in the process. Help a bro out....

Is FFOF a good choice for a simple run?

Is there anything a bit cheaper that might do the trick?

Is it worth it to spend twice as much for the Purple Cow?

Thanks!!
