Bought a Spark Core, was that a mistake?

I just recently bought a Spark Core, I was enticed by its clearance price of $4, but now I can't really seem to find any information on it, how to set it up or program or use it in any way. I found one tutorial but it requires the "Spark Core" app which doesn't seem to work on my devices. Does anyone have any info or anything? Is this device even still usable? I'd be happy if I could even get minimal function, basic analog/digital reads, etc.
