UPDATE: It's Koehler Illumination! Leaving this post in case it's helpful to someone

There's a method in light microscopy where you "calibrate" the microscope (I don't even know if "calibrate" is the right term). It also involves adjusting the condenser and aperture. I can't remember what it's called. I think it was named after somebody. I'm struggling to Google it because I don't even know the right keywords
