Gram + Staphylococcus aureus, catalase test (positive) for Quality Control
Post Body
Staphylococcus aureus inoculated onto sheep blood agar for CAMP test (used for beta hemolysis; group B Streptococcus agalactiae identification) for quality control testing. In this case, QC for the catalase test (which is utilized to differentiate Staphylococcus (catalase ) from Streptococcus (catalase -)) is performed. A drop of 3% hydrogen peroxide placed onto a glass slide demonstrates “bubbling” with addition of Staphylococcus aureus (catalase ) inoculum.
