I've been trying to learn better about our beloved Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
I even got my hands on a few through this place https://genebank.rda.go.kr/microbeSearchView.do?sFlag=ONE&sStrainsn=5836
However, when I searched up on what Saccharomyces cerevisiae Meyen ex E.C. Hansen exactly was, it seemed like there were many varieties. And I'm unsure which one I have in my possession.
To my understanding, Saccharomyces cerevisiae Meyen ex E.C. Hansen is the specific kind of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cloned from Meyen ex E.C. Hansen in 1883. Have I understood this properly?
Finally, ATCC shows so many results for Saccharomyces cerevisiae Meyen ex E.C. Hansen. Could anyone help me understand why so much variety exists? why and how are they different? https://www.atcc.org/search#q=Saccharomyces cerevisiae Meyen ex E.C. Hansen&sort=relevancy&numberOfResults=24
Thanks!
