About Me
I am a math PhD turned high school teacher, since that is one of the few socially acceptable ways to talk about math with most people. I'm sure that conjures up a certain image in your mind, and not all of it is inaccurate.
For example, I'm certainly introverted and a nerd, and I cherish solitude and quality time with close friends. I keep in touch with some friends from grad school through a bi-monthly online tabletop RPG campaign. You'll often find me at book clubs, writing in the library, or getting lost in bookstores.
I enjoy science fiction and fantasy, and thanks to Bridgerton, I've gotten into historical romance. My nonfiction reading interests run the gamut from astronomy to anthropology and I have a soft spot for linguistics (conlanging is one of my oldest hobbies). I collect plushies, especially video game ones, and enjoy owning physical media, so I have a small little collection of DVDs, CDs, and vinyls.
My next big dream is to publish a novel, although I'm currently focussed on just enjoying the process.
I also wouldn't mind finding someone to share my life with. I've given dating apps (more than) a fair shake, and while I had some nice matches, pleasant conversations, and even fun dates, I'm trying to explore alternative ways to meet people, especially those that don't require me to bother women just going about their day.
What I Don't Want
I don't want to waste anybody's time, so let me be upfront with some dealbreakers.
- Kids: I don't want kids, and I am happy being childfree.
- Age Gaps: I'm a little flexible here, but ideally you're between 27 and 33.
- Non-Monogamy: I'm only interested in monogamous relationships.
- Long Distance: I'd prefer you're in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, Southeast Michigan, or within a reasonable driving distance.
- Drugs: I drink lightly and infrequently; I don't want any drugs in my life (I do love the smell of coffee though).
- Social Media Addicts: I have minimal social media presence and don't consider doomscrolling as quality time.
- Conservatives: I'm a progressive and hope our values align.
- Religion: I'm nonreligious and don't have space in my life for organized religion, although I can happily coexist with spiritual and more cultural connections.
- Casual: I'm seeking a long-term relationship that we can hopefully build into a lifelong partnership.
- Friends: Friendship is the foundation of a healthy relationship, but I'm looking for a relationship, not just a friend.
This isn't a dealbreaker, but it might be for you: I'm allergic to cats. I love cats (and dogs too) but my body doesn't, and it's one of the tragedies of my life.
What I Do Want
My ideal partner is a clever, intelligent, thoughtful woman who enjoys reading, is forthright in her opinions, marches to the beat of her own drum, and is probably more talkative than me.
I'll admit that last one isn't really a requirement.
Physical attraction matters, of course, but is much more nebulous than personality. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't say I have a physical type; ultimately, I need to see what you look like to know.
If You Are Interested
If this resonates with you, I'd love if you would introduce yourself. I'd appreciate knowing your age and rough location and a picture of what you look like—for safety reasons and I don't want to waste your time if there is no physical attraction.
Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to getting to know you!
