I picked up blasphemous after reading gleaming reviews, but I kept dying so much and getting so frustrated I dropped it 3h in. I picked up Grime and only when I started enjoying it and felt the difficulty getting slightly lower, I’m hit with this Giant Eyes boss which I fight for an hour, use up all my power ups and leave my computer in a state of pure anger.
I’ve got 5k hours in counter strike, but these games absolutely kick my ass.
On the other hand, I had no problem enjoying Afterimage and Ori. However, most metroidvanias I pick up just cause frustration due to being so hard. How do you guys master them?
The first Blasphemous is more punishing than difficult, with that being rather frontloaded and with the three routes available at the start being very uneven in difficulty (in particular, the snow area is hell if you haven't gotten upgrades from the others).
Commenting on case you want to give it another go.
