Just picked up the metro series on steam is it worth playing 2033 before exodus?

Picked up the series for 20 bucks have no inkiling of this series besides that it's supposed to be pretty good. Is it work playing 2033 redux before exodus? Anything a new player should know before jumping in. Also is it 2033, last light, then exodus or do I have the order wrong.
