SPOILER WARNING

So I've been playing through the series for the very first time, and I've run into a bit of a problem in Last Light. I'm near the end of the game (I think?) And I'm fighting the giant mutant bear thing. The problem is, I really struggled during the previous segment of the game fighting Pavel and all of his friends. I used up literally all of my meds, so now I'm stuck fighting this boss with no second chances if I get hurt. I'm playing on Survival Ranger Normal and I die in two hits, so in order to beat this thing I have to play flawlessly, and I'm just not good enough. It outruns me if I try to kite it, and there's no cover or any sort of terrain I can use to my advantage... Any tips? If not I might I have to restart the level from the main menu and do a better job searching for corpses to loot, and hopefully they'll have some health on them.
