New batch tastes like Play-Doh when smoked

Hey all, popping in with an odd observation about my new batch (title).
The gear runs fine, perhaps a bit weaker than I'm used to (Australia so used to very high purity), I just can't shake this taste. It's not overwhelming or anything, but it's consistent - first puff, next one, all the way to a blackened stain on my bowl, they all taste ever so slightly of Play-Doh.
Anyone experienced this? Just trying to get a measure of if this is at all common / whether I should bring it up with my dealer.
