Has meth lost its cat piss smell

I am wondering if the meth these days is supposed to be odorless ? Back in the day, late 1990’s, it was so strong you could smell it before opening the bag. Now, my friends tell me this shit is “fire” and it has absolutely no scent at all, why is this and is it really meth then ?
