Kinda off topic. But how tf do you get good at chess? Is it literally just memorizing spaces and resulting strategy?

I’ve always been above average at every competitive thing I’ve done. Played collegiate sports, top of my class academically, really high iq but I fucking suck ass at chess. I think I’ve won 3 games out of like 50 online.
