Not sure if this will help anyone, hell, I’m not even sure it helped me… but,
At some point during a binge, first hit of the day I bring the pipe up to my lips, hit the blissful vapor, and exhale.
The typical reaction is a boost in heart rate, increase in euphoria or awareness, sometimes a bliss or a peace.
Today that was not the case. As I’ve experience in previous binges, a paradoxical decrease in heart rate. From a resting rate of 80bpm to a sudden resting rate of 59-65bpm. Hmmm, not good I think.
It’s obvious but electrolytes are crucial to longevity on this molecule. My next decisions were made quick but with purpose and while trying to minimize panic. Lowered bpm and even my blood pressure was within a normal range. It was as if I had not even consumed a stimulant, let alone meth.
After supplementing with two tablets, 595mg Potassium Gluconate, taken 2 hours apart. It was like the hit I had taken earlier suddenly kicked in. Bingo.
For me in was my potassium, for you it could be magnesium or something else if the sort. But this drug is a serious little bitch and can be tricky when trying to determine what’s wrong when you begin having noticeable and uncomfortable symptoms. Some might find a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure a good thing, but one thing I’m confident in when it comes to pharmacology is that my tolerance, or lack there of, should not warrant a sudden and obvious lowering of blood pressure and heart rate. It should do quite the opposite for the vast majority of people in this subreddit.
So i post this as a reminder to everyone, not only should you stay hydrated, but make sure you are getting enough electrolytes! (And the correct ratios of each one!)
You can really save yourself some literal heartache or general discomfort while using, if you notice something is off, nourish yourself! That could be all it takes.
If that doesn’t work, when in doubt, t-break it out. Tolerance break. Not even that, give your body a week or two at least to rebuild and balance whatever it was that caused you to exhibit your worrisome symptoms in the first place. Maybe then you’ll be able to target the issue as was I.
Off to take my last rip of the night, Stay safe fellow speeders.
