Needing help with a 31 gauge not registering

So i normally use 30 gauge but ran out scored a box of 31 gauge from a friend. In the last 2 days since opening it, I have wasted 4 shots from them filling with blood and clogging up because I can’t get it to register more than trickles of blood.
Not to mention i have 4 HUGE hard knots on my arms now from misses.
Any help would be wonderful!!
