I got sent home from work a few nights ago for my blood pressure being high. I was several days off dope, so it was likely just stress related and not a big deal. Regardless, my job requires you to see a provider to be cleared before you can return to work for high BP. I’ve been to the clinic twice, trying to get my note sorted so I can return to work. I thought today would just be a quick stop, have the note corrected, and I’d be out the door. I spent half my night smoking away and the last few pulls I took were 1-2 hours before I got to the clinic this morning… to my absolute horror the receptionist informs me I would have to see someone and have my BP taken before they could provide me a note for the additional days.
I’ve been monitoring my levels while on dope for a few weeks now, so I’m fully aware they get crazy once I’m good and on it. I went into an internal panic, knowing they were about to see an insane number. The girl takes the BP manually and, big shocker, it’s 175/129… way beyond the level of someone stroking out. She took it again and same damn thing. She starts telling me she has to check with the provider and see how to proceed, because I’m at stroke levels and the provider may ask me to go to the ER. I’m sitting there, knowing full well it’s 100% the dope I just smoked, so there’s no way in hell I’m going to the damn hospital for this. I tell her I understand why she’s saying that, but sorry, not sorry, I’m not making an ER trip today.
She steps away to discuss with the provider and thank all the gods above.. she comes back and says it’s all good and she’s just going to put me on some meds, monitor things, and recheck in a month. 😮💨
So now I have my note, a new Rx for BP meds, and anxiety from hell from being a stupid tweaker that thought I could smoke up right until I left to visit and medical clinic for BP issues and everything would be just peachy. 🤣
TLDR: if you smoked the dope don’t do the medical related things that day too!
