So hot rails burn ? And does the smoke smell ?

Pretty much the title.
I smoked cigarettes and weed for 13 years. But I quit 6 years ago. Needless to say, I’m not used to having burning hot smoke going through my throat and in my lungs anymore.
Do hot rails or regular smoking burn ? Does it make you cough ?
And does the smoke have a strong smell or is it odorless ?
So far I’ve only boofed and snorted meth.
I know smoking (and hot railing ?) is more fiendish but I really wanna give it a try and see if I get more effects from it than my usual ROAs
