Is it normal for the crack back to continue growing and form 2 dimensional shapes??

This was gonna be my second hit, I saw the crack black settling after the first in and it was relatively thin. I put the pipe down.. and when came back after a few mins to get round two I noticed this 2D pattern that had formed while I wasn’t paying attention. Is that a good or bad thing??
