I'm fairly new to making music and I learned a lot of theory early on rather than learning covers so now I'm in a weird place where I understand the building blocks of music but I have very few songs I know how to play. Something I see a lot in beginner videos is to take songs you like and learn how they work so you can use that as a base and then tweak it to make it your own. It worked great for me when I was in a Punk band but now I'm trying to learn Metal and I understand it's more riff based than chord progressions so I'm struggling with it. I do see a lot of jokes about the 0 1 thing so I was curious if there's any generic riffs that get used a lot in Metal so I can learn them and go from there. I'm trying to focus on Heavy Metal, Metalcore and a little bit of Alternative/Nu Metal.
