Welcome to the next installment of Metal Guitar's Riff Challenge!
This week's theme is BLACK METAL
Congratulations to nobody for submitting last time. For 2020, I think that's acceptable.
Q&A:
What do I do? Record yourself on whatever means you have available whether that's your phone, a video, or a professional DAW, and upload it as a comment below. In addition, check out other users' submissions and offer them encouragement and constructive advice, as well as ask them questions.
Why do this? To push us to write more and higher-quality riffs, to help us practice in genres outside our comfort zone, to generate more activity in this subreddit, and to bring the community together.
Can I include more than just me playing guitar, such as vocals, drums, etc.? Include whatever you like, keeping in mind that this sub focuses on guitar while other subs such as r/metalmusicians include more of the music process.
How often will these riff challenges be? The schedule.
What if I have trouble thinking of a riff in this week's theme? Idk man just play what feels like the theme is for you.
What if I have suggestions on running this challenge or on future themes? Feel free to mention them below. The suggestion box [IS] currently accepting new suggestions.
Can I be an asshole and tell people their riffs suck and they should stop playing guitar? No, that is grounds for comment removal and other mod action.
