No, not really a good thing, unless you're collecting all the badges at the end. Ideally you don't want to kill many people and instead use stealth or non-lethal for the good badges.

There's many ways: choking out enemies, hitting them in the balls to knock them out (yes, I'm serious), and stun grenades. But the best way to do is Tranqing, which I really do recommend.
