still possible to play MGS4/MGO through the revival method?

never got the chance to play MGO as a kid, wasn't able to get my first playstation 3 until 2010 because I got an Xbox 360 in 2005. I played MGS4 and loved it but never got the chance to try the multiplayer because the servers were shut off by the time I got to play it.
I heard there was a revival project for it a few years ago, was curious if its bother worth getting a PS3 again and setting it up?
