Piece doesn't fit?!?

Hello everyone! I have a big problem with the USS constitution model, in step 2. You have to attach the guns (part A6) to the front of the boat to pass the guns through the slots. Do you have any idea how to do this? I have a feeling that the part has become very fragile with all the handling. I'm afraid it'll break before I can fix it. Is it possible to order a new one? I live in France
